Celebrate 401k Day with a 401k Annuity Rollover

September 11 is 401(k) day, according to “Happy 401(k) Day” in the National Underwriter.  This annual event began in 1995 and takes place on the Friday following Labor Day every year.  The Profit Sharing/401k Council of America started this event to promote education related to retirement savings.  The PSCA’s theme this year is “Make Wise Choices,” which rings very true through an uncertain economic time.  If you are one of the 73 million people in the United States with a 401k account, you can make a 401k annuity rollover to purchase an annuity with some of your funds and guarantee income for the rest of your life.

Great-West Retirement Services of Greenwood Village, Colorado has a large communications campaign supporting the 401(k) day.  Great-West’s parent company, Great-West Life and Annuity Insurance Company, is a subsidiary of Power Corp. Canada in Montreal.  The communications Great-West is offering include a special website dedicated to the event with information, quizzes, a calculator, and helpful links.

O I want a rollover Roth Ira or a ollover 401k Annuity. The employer cannot contribute to any. I am not sure about annuities. BUt from boring reading one of these rollovers must be purchased first. Is that right?

  2. Jason W. Says:

Of course anyone looking to do this should first consult with a financial professional that has experience with 401k rollovers and annuities to make sure they are getting sound advice.
